5 Years With My Derbi ETX 150
A long-term ownership story covering touring, daily commuting, off-road riding, reliability, modifications and life with one of Pakistan's rarest dual-purpose motorcycles.
Ownership Snapshot
Five years, thousands of kilometers and plenty of real-world ownership lessons.
Quick Ratings
My owner-only rating after living with the ETX 150 through city traffic, touring and rough roads.
Introduction
The Derbi ETX 150 Review Pakistan riders have been waiting for — this is a real ownership story, not a first impression. The Derbi ETX 150 is one of those motorcycles that never became mainstream in Pakistan, yet it quietly built a reputation among riders looking for a capable dual-purpose motorcycle for both on-road and off-road adventures.
I purchased my 2019 Derbi ETX 150 in 2021 for approximately PKR 220,000. At the time, the motorcycle had around 6,000 kilometers on the odometer, was unregistered, and I later became its first registered owner in Pakistan.
After almost five years of ownership, countless city rides, touring adventures, and daily commuting, I feel confident sharing a realistic long-term ownership review based on actual riding experience rather than first impressions.
Availability in Pakistan
The ETX 150 was imported in limited numbers. Today, finding a clean ETX 150 is becoming increasingly difficult, with most examples belonging to the 2019–2020 model years. This rarity makes the motorcycle unique but also creates challenges for owners, especially when it comes to parts.
Comfort & Riding Position
Why I stayed with the ETX 150
If there is one reason why I have not switched to another motorcycle, it is comfort. The upright riding posture is excellent for city commuting and long-distance touring. Compared with motorcycles such as the Suzuki GS150 and Honda CB150, the ETX 150 feels more relaxed and confidence-inspiring on rough roads and longer journeys.
The fully digital meter includes a speedometer, trip meter, odometer, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, neutral indicator, high beam indicator and turn indicators. The engine kill switch adds convenience and safety during daily riding.
Fuel Average
The manufacturer claimed fuel consumption figures close to 45 km/l under ideal conditions.
My motorcycle is no longer stock. Modifications include 100/90-17 front tyre, 120/90-17 rear tyre, touring top box and heavy-duty rear carrier.

City Riding Experience
Despite its adventure-bike appearance, the ETX 150 remains surprisingly manageable in city traffic. The slightly taller stance provides better visibility and the front disc/rear drum combination offers confidence-inspiring braking. After tyre upgrades I adjusted my riding style and engine braking accordingly.
Highway Performance
This is where the ETX 150 truly shines. It feels planted, stable and confidence-inspiring. Over nearly five years of ownership I experienced no recurring electrical issues, no major breakdowns and very few unexpected failures.

Off-Road Capability
The ETX 150 performs confidently on dirt roads, gravel, broken roads, rural routes and desert tracks. While not a hardcore enduro machine, it handles Pakistan's mixed terrain extremely well.
It is one of those motorcycles that encourages exploration without making every rough patch feel like a problem.

Lighting & Visibility
The dual-bulb headlight setup with DRLs provides excellent night visibility. The rear LED setup remains one of my favorite features. Even after years of use, none of the LEDs have failed.
